Renaissance is a singer/songwriter, writer and poet from Los Angeles, Ca with a passion for music and storytelling. Very shy growing up she sang in the church choir, not taking the lead but doing her part singing in the background until one day her father, a bassist, saxaphonist and organist pushed her to sing a lead song. Renaissance was not aware of the gift God had given her until the third grade when she sang "This Little Light of Mine" for show and tell. When she was finished her teacher asked her to sing again and this time with the whole class joined in. When class was over peers crowded around Renaissance and asked her to sing again and at that moment, she knew there was something special about her. She realized her gift and dreamed of a life full of music and travel. Born Cornela Marie Austin, aka Connie, she sings in genres such as Country, R&B, Pop, Soul, Acoustic, Hip Hop, and a genre all her own. She has worked with the hottest producer from LA, C. Austin, and the likes of P. Diddy Combs, Jackson Browne, world renowned bassist and pianist Christian McBride and Geoffrey Keezer, as well as many other fiery upcoming singers and songwriters, also gracing the stages of the renowned House of Blues, Knitting factory, and Hardrock Cafe, as well as allowing her presence to reign at the most beautiful weddings and corporate events anyone could ask for. She has been influenced by family jam sessions and her father's direct musical influence and love for music. Growing up as an 80's child Renaissance fell asleep every night next to the radio in her livingroom, whether on the floor or in her father's recliner, to stations such as Kost, K Big, Kiss, The Wave, and Kday...Oldies and the music of the 80's play a big part in her musical direction even today. Favorite artists include Brandy, Taylor Dane, Surface, Babyface, Toni Braxton, Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Chaka Khan, Aretha Franklin, Denice Williams, Envogue, Anita Baker, Tevin Cambell, Prince, Shanice, Karyn White, Salt N Peppa, Temptations, Earth Wind and Fire, Mint Condition, Mary Mary, and so many more...Renaissance's dreams and goals are to change lives through music by telling the life stories and situations of others. She plans to bring a positive force of love through song and her patient character. She wants the platform to be an example for America's youth and the troubles they face today. In the future Renaissance is setting goals to work with Bonnie Rait, Dixie Chicks, Brandy, Whitney Houston and many more artists...Finally Renaissance as begun her musical journey after many years of patience and soul searching. She has come full circle and is ready to "Step Out".
